It’s April and time for the Coronado Flower Show, one of my favorite places to go.
Outside the front door, kumquats and calanchas. This is in the kids’ section. Roses with protea. Lilac, smells great. Yes, it’s real. Amaryllis. Cute. Henry Fonda — often the first in the season to bloom. Good in low light. Sorbet. Another variation of saturated yellow. Got your attention? This flower simply shouts out to be seen. A pink trimmed creamy rose. Varigated red with a green hue and… …then seen close up. A simple arrangement of orchids… ….close up. Protea “pin cushion” in yellow. Spray of white orchids, always elegant. A miniature, less than 4 inches tall. A miniature vignette, less than a 6 inch radius. Planted a few years ago, chosen by my son’s girlfriend, now his wife… “Strawberries and Cream” is the name, now about 6 feet tall. This is the front of our house the day of the 2012 Coronado Flower Show …and it makes a lovely bouquet.
